The Summer Solstice

Today is the longest day of the year, so there is plenty of daylight to reflect back and plan ahead. The summer and winter solstices work great as mental markers to help set goals and remember achievements. With that, since December 22 a lot has transpired in the lives of Emily, Drew, Miles and Saba.

Emily has completed one term of school while pregnant, took a three hour break to bring Miles into the world and then completed another term while recovering from childbirth. All the while she has opened her home to many friends and family, including Drew's parents for three months.

Drew started and completed his first season as a ski instructor, witnessed Emily's most amazing display of strength and energy, and introduced Miles to a world of possibilities.

Miles weighed a little less than 3 pounds on December 22 and now weighs a little over 15 pounds. That's an increase of over 400 percent in six months! Miles wasn't even Miles yet: he was It, and it had no possessions. Now, thanks to you, he has hundreds. A few things Miles has that he didn't in December are a gender specific pronoun, a name, a cute-as-can-be smile, and the experience of countless hugs and kisses.

Saba has learned her fair share, including how to pee outside, catch a frisbee, hide from danger, sneak, reach for the skies, and, most importantly, share attention with her new brother.

Looking ahead to the next solstice it is hard to imagine the changes that will occur and the adventures that will take place, but it's easy to imagine the people that will help to shape them.

To all the readers of Whimsy: Thanks for all of your love and support.

Now here are some pictures from the most recent adventures with friends and family.
