Genetic Splicing

A few weeks ago, Emily and Drew were looking at old baby photos of each other and simultaneously asked the question: "I wonder what our kid will look like?" (Emily actually said child instead of kid). A few clicks later Google directed them to the Carnegie Mellon Genetic Splicing Laboratory website. For a small fee the CMGSL will take any two sets of DNA, splice them together and render a graphical model of the result. (It's breakthrough genetics work and kind of like what they did in the Jurassic Park book/movie only they haven't perfected a 'bayesian approach' enough to create a living being using a combination of two sets of DNA. See Professor Eric Xing's home page.) The website has step-by-step instructions for collecting, preparing, and shipping a DNA sample. The following morning two properly packaged DNA samples were in the mail. According to the website Emily and Drew would have to wait 2-3 weeks for the CMGSL to splice their genetic code and render the graphical models of what either their baby boy or baby girl will look like. It is now 2-3 weeks later and the graphical models have arrived! Here is what little baby Stevens will look like if it's a
